I have been travelling for around 30 years and much of this has been on my own. I love solo travel and its the best way to meet local people and strike up conversations. I find travelling with friends more challenging especially the moaning you have to listen to - the heat, the food, the lack of hygiene, we can't go into that bar its not in the Lonely Plant and the list goes on. I'm a very laid back traveller who would rather learn about the people, culture, than visiting "must see sights". I'm also not a "planner" I like to go with the flow, get lost and experience new things. Being an ESOL teacher, I have also lived and worked in Mexico, Taiwan, Vietnam, Tunisia and Egypt. Not only did I experience living in these countries it provided the opportunity to travel to countries near where I was based. I also work full time and use my annual leave wisely to ensure I get a few good breaks a year. This year I have travelled to India, Shetland and I'm going to Switzerland, Slovakia and Lebanon over the next few months.

• Hobbies:

  I'm a big reader!! I read whatever grabs my attention or books that friends have recommended. I like foreign movies, even if the plot is not so great, there's still something interesting on the screen. I also like yoga and walking. Obviously love travelling and taking photo's, especially of people.

• Favourite places:

  Difficult to pin down but I would say Asia is my favorite continent. And Sarajevo in Bosnia Herzegovina has a special place in my heart. I really love Eastern Europe.
